Someone tried to buy my friend

A friend of mine visited Morocco last year and she told me someone tried to buy her for 100 camels. For reference she has blonde hair and blue eyes but her mum and their friend who they were travelling with don't. The man kept asking her mum if she could have him. They thought this was funny and well she is cleaely proud of it in some way?

I was concerned because I feel like this could have gone really badly and is nothing to be happy about. Maybe it's because I am brown and felt like she was flaunting her whiteness at me lol.
