Has anyone found an AI tool that doesn't quietly lie on your behalf?
I've been tailoring my resume for every application and the AI tools keep doing the one thing I don't want inventing experience I don't have. I'll paste a job description and it'll happily add "Python" or "led a team of 5" because the JD asked for it, even though I never did those things. Now I don't trust any of the output, so I re-read every line, which defeats the point of using the tool.
The ATS-score ones bug me for a different reason: they hand you a number with no way to tell if it's real or just keyword-matching dressed up as something smarter.
So I'm trying to figure out what people actually do:
- If you use AI to tailor, how do you stop it from fabricating or do you just manually check everything?
- Would you trust a tool more if it showed you why it changed each line and flagged "this skill is missing, I won't add it unless you confirm"? Or is that overkill?
- What's your current method, and what's the part you hate most?
Trying to understand if the trust problem is just me or if it's everyone.
