Solo in Fort Kochi for 8 nights (₹1200/night budget). How safe are hostel lockers for expensive camera gear?

Hey guys,

I’ll be in Fort Kochi for about 8 nights in early August. I'm traveling solo and my main goal is street photography, which means I'm carrying some pretty expensive gear (a full-frame camera and a Mac for editing).

My budget for accommodation is strictly under ₹1,200 per night. At that price point, I know I'm mostly looking at backpacker hostels and dorms.

Since it's my first time carrying this much expensive gear into a dorm setting, I’m honestly a bit paranoid. For those who have stayed in places like Zostel, The Hosteller, or other local hostels in Kochi:

\- How safe are the bunk bed setups?

\- Do they provide large, sturdy cupboards or lockers that can actually fit a proper camera bag and a laptop, or are they just small cubbies? Do I need to bring my own heavy-duty padlock?

Would really appreciate any specific hostel recommendations that take security seriously, or any tips on keeping gear safe in a shared room! Thanks in advance.
