Worse cramps and longer periods after 4 months with hormonal iud, any advice?

Experience

I don’t mean to fearmonger or anything I’m just here to talk about my experience.

I’m 22 and got the mirena 8 year iud back in February. Originally this was for birth control purposes, but during ultrasounds I found out that I also had adenomyosis.

I had that initial period of constant bleeding that lasted about roughly a month for me, but afterwards once they got back into the monthly cycle I noticed that my periods, while lighter in terms of daily flow, were lasting several days longer than they used to.

My premenstrual cramps are also noticeably worse; I had moderate-painful cramps before but with the iud I can get waves of cramps that make me either have to lie down in my bed for 5 minutes or space out and try not to dissociate in public. It’s almost as if I can *feel* the iud through my abdomen and that intensifies the pain a bit, similar to the intense cramping I experienced within the hour after the initial iud insertion. Day to day wise I’m not in pain unless those abdominal muscles are stimulated again when I do a big poo.

It’s already been 4 months, will my cramps and periods lessen over time or am I stuck with annoying drippy periods and cramps for the next 8 years?
