Everything is about to get harder. Give me some advice.

Advice Request

My son is 1.5yrs old. He has been a good sleeper for a long time but recently (beginning of June) we went on vacation to San Diego and he had to co-sleep at the Airbnb. Ever since then, he has had to have my spouse or I lay with him until he falls asleep. Now he's waking up 3 or 4 times a night and he walks out of his room and starts poking Mom. We usually take turns, but my wife is currently 37 weeks pregnant so I'm on the hook for getting him back to sleep.

Tonight I tried the method I originally used and man, it was a battle for 30 minutes. I would put him in bed and say "it's bed time, good night" and walk out. He probably got out of bed another 20 times before he finally crashed.

What I'm truly worried about is having a newborn and having to deal with this hurdle. I want to be a good dad and not get angry, but when it's 12am or 3am and he's not cooperating, it's hard not to be.

What advice do you dads have? Surely I'm not the only one who's experienced this. How did you get through it?
