Legion 9i Gen 9 (2024) vs Legion Pro 7i Gen 10 (2025)
Hey people, I have a Legion 9i from 2024 and I am wondering if it is worth changing it for a Legion Pro 7i from 2025. I would essentially be able to sell my current one and get the new one for the same price. These are the specs:
Legion 9i Gen 9
Intel Core i9-14900HX
64 GB DDR5 - 5600MHz (2 × 32 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 16GB GDDR6
2 TB SSD, M.2 2280, PCIe Gen4 NVMe, TLC
16" 3 200 × 2 000, Mini-LED, antireflex, HDR 1000, 100 % Adobe RGB, 100 % DCI-P3, 1200 cd/m² (nit), 165 Hz
Legion Pro 7i Gen 10
Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
32GB of DDR5 RAM (2 x 16 GB)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 24GB GDDR7
2x 1 TB / M.2 NVMe SSD
16" 2560 x 1600 OLED 240 Hz, 500 nits Display
I know the Legion 9i has some sort of "water cooler" inside, so that might improve it's performance. Not sure if the 7i has that. The lower ram and lower resolution screen make me worried I might regret the change, also the screen of the newer one is OLED, but has much less brightness and this might affect usability in bright environments. But getting a 5090 and a newer CPU seems really appealing. How much better are the newer CPU and GPU?
