Started as an Associate Customer Support after M.Com. Can I switch back to accounting/finance later?
Hi everyone,
I recently completed my M.Com and have accepted a job as an Associate Customer Support because I wanted to start my career and gain work experience.
However, my educational background is in Commerce (Finance, Accounts, and Taxation), and my long-term goal is to work in accounting, finance, banking, or a related commerce field.
I wanted to ask:
- Has anyone here made a similar switch from customer support to accounting or finance?
- Will 1–2 years of customer support experience make it difficult to get an accountant or finance role later?
- What skills or certifications should I work on while I'm in this job to improve my chances of switching?
- Would recruiters consider me for commerce-related roles even though my first job was in customer support?
I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been in a similar situation or has experience hiring for these roles.
Thank you! myquals
