Venting: Screw the system

I know this is not comparable to the incident where a dnb resident was slapped by a hod with hep b positive patient blood stained gloves but we gotta stop pretending that the system is not rotten to the core.

The hierarchy in mbbs and post it is not discipline or teaching- learning dynamic lol not at all it's unchecked power and normalized abuse.And it starts from first year itself.

In my first year of mbbs I was singled out and targeted by the anatomy department including the hod, associate professors and assistant professors simply because I was a slow learner and a quiet student.

One assistant professor mocked me and told me to visit the psych department just because I could not recall something that was taught a couple of hours earlier.A grownass adult with a title using a student as a punching bag.

The same person then made me handle a formalin soaked midbrain specimen with my bare hands because I had forgotten my gloves.My nails were damaged.My skin was destroyed for two weeks.Nobody cared. Because this behavior is protected and normalized.

People like this hide behind titles and call it discipline.

The current system does not create better doctors by breaking students down heck it treats them as sub-humans.The system is so screwed that it builds a generation that learns to do the same thing to the next batch because no one ever stopped it.

Medicine does not have a few bad incidents.This isn't a few bad apples.Its a culture problem.And the people who enable it every senior,every colleague,every administrator who looked the other way..is a part of it.
