Where to mount my bus bars...
Alas, the saga continues in the efforts to make my father's off-grid system safe.
We have procured #2 wire, are in the process of getting MRBFs for the positive studs of the series/parallel battery pack, and have also gotten 400 amp bus bars, which should be more than sufficient.
My current dilemma is how to go about mounting the bus bars safely. From my frantic searching, it seems mounting commercial busbars (like these, but dear god tell me if these were a mistake) directly to plywood should be fine.
However, the batteries are on a wire shelf. And my plan was to mount the plywood to the wire shelf, a board on each side, mount the bus bars there since I should be able to run my 3ft cables to the busbars easily, and then run from the bus bars to the inverter. Then I realized...... mounting bus bars on the sides of a wire shelf, even with plywood in between, sounds like a fire waiting to happen...... But I also have a healthy respect (fear) of electricity and could be overthinking this? But I'd rather overthink and ask a billion questions on reddit than burn down the house...
Is there a way to do what I'm planning safely? Image of the battery rack below.
