Bachelor of Cybersecurity — transfer/RPL experience?
Hey everyone,
I’ve applied for the UTS Bachelor of Cybersecurity and I’m trying to understand what the course is actually like from students who are currently doing it.
I’m currently studying ICT at Western Sydney University and also have a TAFE Diploma of Networking. I’m looking at transferring into Cybersecurity because it aligns more with what I want long-term.
I had a few questions:
- What is the Bachelor of Cybersecurity like overall?
- How practical are the labs/projects?
- How difficult are the cybersecurity subjects compared to the core IT subjects?
- Has anyone transferred from WSU or another uni into UTS Cybersecurity?
- If you applied for RPL/credit transfer, how much credit did you get?
- Was the RPL process strict or fairly reasonable?
- Did TAFE/Networking/ICT subjects help with credit?
- Do you feel the degree is job-ready, or do you still need a lot of extra projects/certs outside uni?
I’m not expecting the degree alone to guarantee a job, but I’m trying to work out whether UTS Cybersecurity is worth transferring into compared with staying in a broader ICT pathway.
Any honest experiences would be appreciated.
