[32M] and [36M] in a relationship for about 6 years
I didn't really know how to title this because of the character limit and also I wasn't really sure what flair to use because it's kind of only half-true, but I will elaborate. I know a lot of people may not want to read this because it will be long. That's ok. I'm mostly venting but I am also somewhat looking for advice?
I've been with my "boyfriend" for almost six years now. He started off love bombing me, and I didn't realize it because at the time I didn't even really know that term until I told a friend about his behavior. She said it's love bombing. I was living with my immediate family at the time and it was just really rough. I will say moving out made me get along better with them and it was just not easy for us to live together lol.
Well it's basically gotten to that point with him now too. We moved in together 2 months after meeting, which trust me I did NOT think it was a good idea. But I figured how much worse could it be? I was told to get my stuff and get the F out when I was 26 and I still had a "curfew" so I figured I'd jump on the opportunity.
He said "it made me so sad to see how terrible your dad treated you and I had to get you out of that house." It was great for about 2 months. Then it went south and never changed.
So as far as the title, I do tend to talk a lot around him. We live in a one bedroom trailer and even couples need privacy at times, but it's just quite literally impossible. And when I have the person that allegedly loves me so close to me all the time, I just like to share my feelings. I am a Pisces, mind you, lol and I know a lot of people don't necessarily believe in the zodiac signs' personalities. But I fit it to a T because I'm extremely sensitive and a crybaby and I need constant reassurance.
As far as that goes, he doesn't want to hear it 90% of the time, yet has no problem being on the phone for hours and yelling. Then he gets off the phone and he's blasting the TV and listening to music through his headphones at the same time because I told him politely the noise is bothering me, but yet he's screaming the lyrics to the songs anyway. I'm trying to sleep and he's got all this noise going on and I don't quite understand having the TV on full volume if you're listening to music...
Anyway if I do that, he will raise hell. He has given me multiple black eyes and actually broke my finger at one point by biting down on it. I'm lucky he didn't rip it off.
So to give more insight about that, I'm not saying I never said anything wrong towards him. Everybody makes mistakes, right? I have to admit, we both have an issue with alcohol. I have gotten better because I can admit that I have a problem and I have sought help. I haven't fully recovered. But he likes to call me out and mock me when he continues to do it himself... So is that the pot calling the kettle black? Because he gets obnoxious and violent and I just have to sit there and cry and keep my mouth shut so I don't get assaulted until he falls asleep. And he NEVER remembers it the next day.
Just recently I went out with a friend, when I actually did not want to originally, but he was pulling that with me and I knew another fight would break out if I stayed around because I am stubborn and I try to just bite my tongue and I can't take it anymore. Anyway I tell him I'm leaving multiple times and he just says "ok have fun." I get a call from him half an hour later interrogating about where I am at which was a bar we used to frequent before we got our place together. I told him I said I was going there. He insisted I never said anything and then once we get off the phone, he texts me something along the lines of hoping we get in a car crash and die. Then he proceeds to show up after he said he will never come to that place again. He was just trying to be controlling.
Anyway, none of that is acceptable, of course. The last part I want to add is I am not "afraid" to leave in one sense. But I am not financially stable at the moment. And I know people are going to think this is a bad excuse to stay, but we have a dog together. He is technically HIS dog because he had him for about five years before he met me. But I fell in love with this little guy and it would break my heart even more than us breaking up. At this point I just feel like I wasted what could have been precious years of my life. Everything just went downhill ever since we moved in together. I just don't know what to do anymore.
If you had the patience to make it this far, thank you for reading lol. I know it was a lot. I'm very lost right now.
