Lian Li O11 Vision (non-Compact) - Need advice on the best airflow setup for my build
Hey everyone,
I'm looking for some advice regarding the airflow in my current PC. I've been reading a lot of different opinions and now I'm honestly more confused than before.
This is my current setup:
- Case: Lian Li O11 Vision (original version, NOT the Compact)
- CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE LINK H150i LCD (360mm AIO)
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9700X
- GPU: RTX 5070
Current fan setup:
- Side: 360mm radiator with 3x 120mm fans as EXHAUST
- Bottom: 3x 120mm INTAKE
- Rear: 1x 120mm EXHAUST
- Top: No fan support because it's the original O11 Vision with the glass top.
Something like this:
My biggest question is about the radiator.
Right now it's configured as exhaust, so it's pulling the warm air from inside the case through the radiator and exhausting it outside.
Would it make more sense to switch the radiator to intake, so it pulls fresh outside air through the radiator first to cool the coolant before the air enters the case?
I know that would probably improve CPU and coolant temperatures, but I'm worried about dumping warmer air into the case and potentially increasing GPU temperatures.
I'm also planning to add a second 120mm rear exhaust fan, so the setup would become:
- Side radiator: 3x Intake (or Exhaust?)
- Bottom: 3x Intake
- Rear: 2x Exhaust
Another thing I'm considering is buying the Lian Li O11 Vision Compact instead, since it supports top-mounted fans. If I went that route, I was thinking about something like:
- Side radiator → Intake
- Bottom → 3x Intake
- Rear → 2x Exhaust
- Top → 3x Exhaust
However, I'm not sure if buying an entirely new case just to add top exhaust fans is actually worth it.
Another thing I'm wondering about is the radiator placement itself.
If I end up buying a new case, would you still mount the 360mm radiator on the side, or would you move it to the top?
I'm also curious about the best AIO tube orientation. Right now my radiator is mounted on the side with the tubes at the top (above the CPU block). Every now and then I can hear some small bubbling or water-flow noises. It doesn't really bother me, but if another radiator or tube orientation would improve cooling performance, longevity, or reduce trapped air, I'd definitely consider changing it.
So my questions are:
- Would you keep the radiator as exhaust, or would you switch it to intake?
- Is 6 intake vs 2 exhaust a good airflow configuration for this case?
- Is adding a second rear exhaust fan enough, or would you recommend changing the case entirely?
- If I buy a new case with top fan support, would you mount the radiator on the side or on the top?
- What's the best AIO tube orientation for both performance and long-term reliability?
- If you owned this exact hardware, how would you configure the airflow?
I'm open to any suggestions, whether it's improving my current setup or completely changing the airflow if I decide to get a different case.
I'd really appreciate some advice, especially from people who own the original O11 Vision, the Vision Compact, or anyone who has tested different airflow configurations.
Thanks in advance! 😊
