23M Rate My Portfolio: Am I on the right track or overlapping too much?
Hey everyone,
I am a 23-year-old male looking for some honest feedback and constructive criticism on my current mutual fund selection. I want to know if this lineup is well-optimized for long-term growth or if there are areas where I need urgent improvement (like overlapping, sectoral overexposure, or asset allocation issues).
Here is the exact breakdown of the funds I have selected:
Equity Funds
- Flexi Cap: Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund (Direct Growth) - SIP
- Large & Midcap: Motilal Oswal Large and Midcap Fund (Direct Growth) - SIP
- Mid Cap: Nippon India Growth Mid Cap Fund (Direct Growth)
- Small Cap: Bandhan Small Cap Fund (Direct Growth) - SIP
Thematic / Sectoral Funds
- Technology: ICICI Prudential Technology Direct Plan Growth (started at the age of 18 and now its a huge negative return due to ai)
Debt / Liquid Funds
- Money Market: JioBlackRock Money Market Fund Direct Growth
- Short Term: ICICI Prudential Short Term Fund Direct Plan Growth - SIP
A bit more context:
- Investment Horizon: Long-term (5 to 10+ years for the equity portion).
- Risk Appetite: Moderately high to high for equities, but trying to keep a safety net with debt.
My specific questions for the sub:
- Overlap Check: Do you see any major portfolio overlap between Parag Parikh Flexi Cap, Motilal Oswal Large & Midcap, and the Nippon Mid Cap fund?
- Sectoral Risk: Is holding a dedicated Tech fund worth it right now, or should I let the Flexi Cap handle sector allocations?
- Debt Allocation: Thoughts on the JioBlackRock Money Market and ICICI Short Term combination?
