is X-Men 97 intentionally soapy or did it just come out this way?

this is not a hill i would die on, but if you do see this soap bubblin' from its every pore, was this by design or not? are the comic series similar in this regard? I might be misremembering from a few years ago when I last read Hicks' X-Men.

just rewatching the first season now before the second one hits and I literally did not remember at all how much soap and drama there is cooked up every 5 mins.
