Scared to try fludrocortisone?

Medication

I’ve just been diagnosed with POTS after 18 months of symptoms. My cardiologist says he’s not usually keen to prescribe medication for POTS but because mine is quite severe (I’m pretty much housebound at the moment and get tired/dizzy from doing very basic tasks like walking from one room to the next) that I could try a low dose of fludrocortisone. The only lifestyle changes I’ve done so far per his recommendations is upping my fluid intake and eating more salty food.

I’m quite anxious about taking medication in general, and with fludrocortisone I’m worried about side effects making me feel worse and that you can’t always come off it straight away and have to gradually taper it off. I know that it could help me to feel a lot better but I think there’s also part of me that feels overwhelmed at the thought at feeling any worse than I already do by adding something else, if that makes sense?

What kinds of experiences have people had on fludrocortisone? Am I being overly anxious about trying it?
