App question

I applied for 2 different positions at the same store (ASM II and SMT) and I only received a phone interview invite for SMT, my resume is well built but it only says manager from my last job. So im really asking how do they tell the difference and why they choose to go straight for the SMT instead of considering ASM for a complete nobody?

This one is really for the store and DM’s, if I do not pass the interview, what’s the likelihood of them just processing my ASM position instead?

I could just be overthinking it but what are the hiring steps such as interview to pay negotiations for city stores like LA, NYC, etc which is the only reason why I am doing it so please do not just comment “Run”.

Also, do not hesitate to share some stories about your current or former stores, I like to read and there isn’t a lot of content on this subreddit.
