I’m not ready for College Football

Need Reassurance...

For some insane reason I decided to commit to playing college football this fall right out of high school. I really enjoy playing, and I’m going to a school I love, but the thought of playing at the next level and likely starting next year absolutely terrifies me.

I’ll be coming into a team where I’m likely going to be the best player at my position, and now that the only other person who plays my position decommitted, there likely won’t even be a very serious position battle coming into camp.

I’m a slow, relatively small and weak 18 year old, and there’s a very real possibility I’m going to be thrown up against people old enough to have a wife and kids in just a month and a half.

I’ve had issues with staying consistent under stressful situations in the past, and I think the step up here is only going to make it worse. I’ve worked a lot on staying in the right mental space over the offseason, but I don’t know how much any of that is going to help where I see someone 5 years older than me and 50lbs heavier right in front of me ready to kill me.

I don’t really even think of myself as much of an athlete. I’m good at what I do, sure, but my stamina isn’t great, I don’t have elite speed, and I’m not a monster in the weight room.

I genuinely don’t know what I signed up for. I can’t believe I have less than 2 months to prepare. I’ve been practicing and lifting as much as I can, but I don’t know if it will be enough.
