π§ General Strategy & Next Steps (Round 3 Update)
- Don't Panic If Your Allotment Didn't Change: Round 3 marks the final seat allocation window of the regular rounds. Cutoffs might feel stiff right now, but do not lose heart. Because IIT COAP timelines are wrapping up, a substantial number of candidates will abandon their backup seats over the next week. These vacant seats will directly feed into the CCMT Special Rounds starting mid-July, where the major shifting happens!
- The "Willingness" Choice Matrix Constraints:
- Float: If you choose to transition with a Float from the regular rounds, you keep your current seat safe while letting you contest for a higher preference in the upcoming Special Rounds.
- Slide: Restricts you to upgrades solely within your currently allotted institute for the subsequent phases.
- Freeze: Only choose this if you are absolutely, 100% satisfied with your current branch and college allotment. This locks you out of any further upgrades.
- Mandatory Action for First-Time Allottees: If you received an allotment for the very first time in Round 3, you must upload your documents, choose your willingness, and pay the Seat Acceptance Fee (SAF) online between June 27 and June 30, 2026 (by 5:30 PM). Skipping this automatically cancels your seat and kicks you out of the counseling ecosystem entirely.
- Critical Step: Payment of Partial Admission Fee (PAF): This is the ultimate make-or-break phase! Every single candidate who holds a confirmed seat after Round 3 (whether allocated in Round 1, 2, or 3) must pay the Partial Admission Fee (PAF) online between July 2 and July 6, 2026 (by 5:30 PM). Failing to pay this fee on time will result in the automatic forfeiture of your seat, regardless of whether you paid the SAF earlier.
- Document Vigilance & Withdrawal: Ensure your category certificates (OBC-NCL / EWS) remain fully valid according to the instructions. If you are entirely unsatisfied with your allocation and want to exit the regular rounds completely to try fresh in the Special Rounds, the online withdrawal window is also open from July 2 to July 6, 2026.
