You guys suggest me the title for this poem.
Everything I held dearly was lost to the rain
I clenched it with everything I had in me,
yet it seeped away from my trembling hands,
as if my touch itself repulsed it.
The wind felt like a gnawing caress against my aching skin,
drawing the last of my hope from my open palms,
whispering softly for it to let go.
I watched it sink into the ground,
carrying away what I could not retrieve,
then settling softly into the grass
and I never envied the earth so much,
for it was allowed to keep
what slipped through me
