A question for handbag lovers: why do certain bags create an instant reaction?

I’m genuinely curious about something. Yesterday I was carrying a Louis Vuitton Speedy denim Murakami with cherry details and an exotic leather element. A woman noticed it and had a very strong reaction — she was genuinely shocked/excited by it.

I’m not someone who buys bags to impress people, and for me it’s just a piece I love. But I keep noticing that some women immediately recognize certain bags and react emotionally to them.

What is it about luxury handbags that creates such a strong reaction? Is it the rarity, the nostalgia, the craftsmanship, the status, the “knowing” what you’re looking at? I’d love to hear perspectives from women who are into bags and from those who aren’t.
