A question for Japanese fans of Uma Musume
I'll start a bit further back.
As all we know, Uma Musume has very good and varied music and songs. I sometimes like to watch YouTube reviews and reactions to songs and music from the franchise.
Overall, I'm happy with everything; I love it when people's jaws drop when they get something completely different from what they expected (except in cases of obvious overacting or fake reactions).
The only thing that consistently upsets me (besides the unemployed clowns who create hype content about everything, without understanding anything and without delving into anything) is how many video content creators and people in their chats repeatedly refer to Japanese music as K-pop. Don't people know that K-pop and J-pop are not the same thing? Sometimes it reaches the point of absurdity. A guy can spend five minutes talking about how much he loves Japanese music, and then call every song K-pop for the rest of the video... The funniest thing is that they still call even non-pop songs, like Ms. Victoria, K-pop. I've even seen people who, during Gimlet or Orfevre solo songs, wondered, "What do you call it? K-rock?"... Some even snap back when you correct them, like, "I don't care!", "Are you the smart ass?!", "What difference does it make?", "I call all Asian music K-pop."
So this question is primarily for the Japanese (but of course, I'd like to hear others' opinions too). What do you think about this? Doesn't it upset you? Especially considering that J-pop is older and generally more diverse. I have no negativity towards K-pop, but I've always known and distinguished it from J-pop, J-rock, etc. The difference isn't just in the country of production. There are genuine differences between them in many aspects.
I'm not writing this to argue or start fights. I just want to know how everyone feels about this.
