Just saw Supergirl. Now I really don’t get the hate

Most of the hate I kept seeing was towards Milly Alcock and then some from the far right types complaining about it being “too woke”.

Before seeing I already knew the first part was nonsense as Milly has always been 🔥 to me so for her to magically be “ugly”, like some were saying, as Supergirl would be pretty much impossible. The second part was plausible but as a huge fan of the Superman universe as a while I needed to see for myself.

After seeing it, yep I was right she looked great and played the role great. As for the second part, absolutely not “too woke.” Literally the only “woke” part was that it was a female lead with a female sidekick, but if that’s your definition of “too” woke then you need to go get some sun and touch some grass. There was zero agenda pushing in the dialogue as it pretty much solely focused on her backstory and how she’s dealing with her own grief or fighting the current villain. Furthermore, they did zero swapping of race/gender/sexual orientation of any canonical characters.

Outside of that, the fight scenes were solid, CGI was mostly good and it wasn’t too campy/cheesy. Jason Momoa’s character was really the only kinda cheesy one and that’s not even his fault, that’s more on the writing than anything. It was a solid 7/10 for me. Not good enough for me to pay for tickets to see a second time but definitely good enough to watch when it’s on a streamer.
