One-day overstay in Denmark - awaiting expulsion decision while my student residence permit is being processed.

Immigration

My wife and I recently travelled to Denmark on a Schengen visa from 7 June to 16 June to attend design festival in Copenhagen. At Copenhagen Airport, we were informed that we had overstayed our visa by one day.

After looking into it, we realised what had happened. Our travel agents had booked our flights for 7 June–16 June, and this was the itinerary that was shared with us and that we relied upon while travelling. However, the itinerary submitted along with our visa application mentioned 7 June–15 June. Neither the travel agency nor we noticed this discrepancy before travelling.

We had a confirmed return ticket before leaving for Denmark and had no intention of overstaying. We departed on our pre-booked flight, cooperated fully with the authorities, paid the fine at the airport, and were each issued a Notice of Possible Expulsion with Entry Ban. We have since submitted our completed information forms and supporting documents through Nyidanmark, including an apology letter from the travel agent acknowledging their error and apologising for the discrepancy, along with my ST1 application, Royal danish academy admission letter, ministry fees etc.

The reason this has become particularly stressful is that, shortly after returning back, I submitted my ST1 application for a Danish student residence permit to begin my Master's at the Royal Danish Academy. I have already paid my tuition fees, submitted my biometrics at VFS Global, and my residence permit application is now being processed.

Has anyone experienced something similar, particularly with a one-day overstay where a Notice of Possible Expulsion with Entry Ban was issued? How long did the Danish Immigration Service take to make a decision after you submitted your remarks? Also, if anyone has experience with a pending expulsion case while a Danish student residence permit application was being processed, I would really appreciate hearing about it.

If there is anyone with legal knowledge. PLEASE HELP.
