Advice please? High schools for ASN student
Hi everyone
I’m a single mum and a high school support for learning teacher. I’ve got a child in S2 who (like me) is autistic. She’s in a mainstream high school and hates plenty about it (socially, sensorially). She’s basically doing ok academically - she’s bright and doesn’t “need” to work hard to get by - but hasn’t had support needs very well understood and has occasional dysregulated moments where she might run away or swear at a teacher.
Right now we stay in Edinburgh but we are considering moving to Glasgow due to circumstances.
It would help me in this decision making process if I knew more about schools in Glasgow. Does anyone have experience of their ASN children in mainstream schools? Are there any alternative provision schools - smaller / more vocational / less draconian? Or city schools with really good support hubs?
Would be really interested and appreciative to receive any advice at all.
Thank you so much :)
