Should I stop expecting anything from this friendship?
I need some advice about a situation.
I liked a girl and started talking to her around February and March. Later, she told me that she only saw me as a good friend. I respected that, and we continued being friends.
During our summer holidays, there was about a one-month gap. I was the one who reached out to her, asked how she was doing, and even told her that I had no intention of ignoring her. After that, things were fine again.
Throughout April, May, and early June, I was usually the one who texted first. She always replied, and her replies were nice, but they often came after a long time. She never really initiated the conversation.
On June 9, I decided to stop texting first. The last conversation we had was good, and nothing bad happened. Since then, neither of us has texted each other.
My birthday is June 27 (today). Before we stopped talking, I mentioned my birthday to her twice because I thought she might remember it. I honestly expected that she would wish me on my birthday.
But today is June 27, and I still haven’t received a message from her.
I’m not angry, just a little disappointed. Since June 9, neither of us has reached out. I’m wondering if I should take this as a sign to move on or if I’m expecting too much from someone who already told me she only sees me as a friend.
What would you do in my situation?
