What are your thoughts on the expanding percentage of legendaries?

General Discussion

So the question is in the title yeah?

Like, with each passing set, we have seen more and more and more legendaries in a single set. Where once being legendary ment something interesting, now, legends are LITERALLY more common than ever before. Especially since the whole "turtle in every pack" idea from TMNT and Spiderman caused an explosion of legendaries in common and uncommon. Legendaries that seem reminiscent of Legends era of magic with a "legendary creature" literally being a vanilla creature with the only legendary thing about it being the name.

And while this has little impact on eternal formats like Commander and Modern, it does adversely effect things like draft and limited due to the legend rule. And it would be effecting standard were it not for WotC making standard rotations so long and cranking out so mamy sets as to artificially mitigate the issue to a degree.

So what are your thoughts on how many legends we have been getting? Do you like it or has it been a negative design for you? Do you enjoy the additions for things like commander or is this WotC selling out to Commander players at the expense of standard?
