HCA allowing patients to think she’s a nurse and saying the only difference between her and a nurse is that she’s “not allowed” to administer medication. How do I deal with her?

What it says above really. I won’t say too much about the area i work in, but it’s a small team. There is one HCA and her uniform is almost the same as the nurses (I have asked my manager to address this but I think he’s actually scared to upset her). She’s constantly insinuating to patients that she’s done her nurse training and many of them actually this she’s the nurse in charge.

I have tried to deal with it by talking to her about several incidents but she gets passive aggressive/ upset and says she can’t deal with confrontation.

I’m at my wits end and just want to leave now…but I like my job and I’ve been though many years of high stress nursing. This place is lovely…apart from this incredibly infuriating HCA. She constantly inflates her own experience and sometimes gives advise she shouldn’t, and then I have to go and correct it. I feel like I have to have eyes and ears in the back of my head.

She’s extremely manipulative and has the manager wrapped around her finger. As I’ve said, I’ve raised this issue multiple times. He says he’ll have a word and he doesn’t. Or maybe he does and she just completely ignores it.

Should o just confront her? I feel she’s the type to accuse a nurse of bullying for telling her to do her job 😩
