What happened to this game’s reputation?

My co-worker recently found out that I played Genshin, he then left the company a few weeks later. I probably didn’t have anything to with that, however I cant help but to think I did.

It just made me wonder why the gaming community hates on this game so much, especially since the visuals in this game are so stunning. It makes me hesitant to talk about it with other people because I have a feeling they would stay away from me/ talk to me less if i try to talk about it.

How bad is it compared to other games like League of Legends or Valorant?
