A Calm Way to Live With the Sound in Ear at Bedtime

The sound in ear gets loudest for me the moment the room goes silent at night.

Up front, covering up the sound in ear is not a cure and this is not medical advice, please see a doctor or audiologist if it is new or persistent. What helps me personally is a soft noise sitting near the pitch of what I hear, so my attention slides off it rather than locking on. When the ringing feels high I reach for the brighter colors like blue or violet, when it is lower I go to brown or pink. The point is to keep it quiet and continuous so the silence that makes it worse never returns.

A gentle pitch matched mask, not a fix.

I use an app called Mindael because I can slide across the noise colors to find the one that sits right on the sound, and layer soft rain over it. Mindael loops it with no seam and fades it on a sleep timer so it is not blasting all night.

If silence makes yours louder, a soft pitch matched mask can help you notice it less, Mindael is what I use, not medical advice. What helps you cope at night?
