Looking for a 14" laptop for CS/AI, coding, college, and some gaming — am I asking for too much? 2 lakh budget
I'm going to be starting college soon (likely CS-related) and have been trying to find a laptop that fits what I want, but every option seems to involve some compromise.
My priorities:
- Strong preference for a 14-inch laptop
- Lightweight and portable (ideally around 2 kg or less)
- Good battery life
- 32 GB RAM (or at least upgradeable to 32 GB)
- Powerful enough for coding, engineering workloads, and AI/ML experimentation
- GPU performance matters more to me for AI workloads than gaming
- Some gaming capability would be nice, but it's not the primary focus
- Clean, professional design preferred over an aggressive gamer aesthetic
- Good display quality is a bonus
I've been really interested in AMD's newer chips, especially Strix Halo, because they seem to offer a lot of performance without needing a massive dedicated GPU.
Laptops I've looked at include:
- ASUS TUF A14
- ROG Zephyrus G14
- ROG Flow Z13
- ASUS ProArt PX13
- Some HP Omen models
The weird thing is that every time I think I've found the perfect laptop, I discover it's either:
-
Not available in india
-
Way more expensive than expected,
-
Missing 32 GB RAM,
-
Heavier than I'd like, or
-
Sacrificing battery life.
For people who have similar priorities (portable 14", AI/coding focused, decent graphics, not necessarily hardcore gaming), what would you recommend? Is there a laptop I'm overlooking, or is this just a situation where I need to decide which compromises I can live with?
Used ai to summarise, opinions all mine.
