👋 Welcome to r/HospitalBills_India - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Hey everyone! I'm u/C2S_NOW, a founding moderator of r/HospitalBills_India.
This is our new home for anyone who's been blindsided by a hospital bill in India - the inflated charges, the 15-page invoices nobody can read, the ₹200 syringe that costs ₹15. If you've ever stood at a discharge counter feeling powerless, you're among people who get it. We're glad you're here.
What to Post
Share your hospital bills (personal details blacked out), call out overcharging, ask "was I overcharged for this?", and best of all, post your refund wins so the rest of us know it's possible. Confusing bill? Insurance deducting things it shouldn't? Just need to vent about getting fleeced while your relative was in the ICU? All of it belongs here.
Community Vibe
People here are often raw, stressed, or grieving. Be kind, be supportive, attack the bill and the system, never individual staff. We're building the watchdog that hospitals assume you'll never become.
A few ground rules
- Black out patient name, UHID, phone and address before posting any bill.
- No medical advice, this is about billing, not diagnoses.
- No spam or self-promotion (this goes for everyone, mods included).
How to Get Started
- Introduce yourself in the comments and, if you're comfortable, share your worst hospital bill story.
- Post something today, even a quick "is ₹X normal for this?" sparks great discussion.
- Know someone who's been overcharged? Invite them in.
- Want to help moderate as we grow? Drop me a message.
Thanks for being part of the very first wave. ₹106 for a part that costs ₹5.77 is real and documented, imagine the bills nobody ever checks. Together, let's start checking them.
