Matching a Noise Color to the Sound in Ear Made the Biggest Difference

After a lot of trial and error, matching a noise color to the sound in ear is what finally gave me relief.

I want to be clear that this is comfort and masking only, the sound in ear is not something a sound file treats or cures, and this is not medical advice, so please get an audiologist to check anything new or persistent. The thing that clicked for me was pitch matching, because a mask that sits at the wrong frequency just adds noise without hiding the ringing. Mine is on the higher side so blue and violet cover it best, while a friend with a lower hum does better on brown. Sliding through the colors until one lands on the pitch is worth the few minutes it takes.

Match the color to the pitch, calmly.

I use an app called Mindael because the noise colors run from brown through pink and white up to blue and violet, so I can creep across until one masks the sound. There is a premium AI Chat I can ask for setup tips, but the free color slider already does the masking. Mindael keeps it seamless so there is never a gap where the ringing jumps back out.

Try sliding the colors until one sits on your pitch, gently, that is how Mindael helps me, not medical advice. Which color masks yours best?
