MediaMarkt Turkey refuses refund unless you provide unboxing video for a clearly defective product

I purchased an Anker Soundcore Select 2S Bluetooth speaker from the official MediaMarkt Turkey website on June 22, 2026.

The product arrived on June 23, 2026.

Immediately after unboxing, I noticed that the front metal grille was visibly bent and deformed. The outer packaging and the product box were both intact, so this does not appear to be shipping damage.

On the same day, I submitted a return request and shipped the product back within approximately 30 minutes.

However, on June 27, 2026, I was informed that my return was rejected and the product was sent back to me.

When I contacted customer support, I was told the reason was that I did not:

  • record an unboxing video
  • or prepare a damage report with the courier at delivery

In reality, this requirement is not practical in Turkey for standard consumers. It is not common practice to film unboxings or force courier staff to wait for inspection reports at delivery.

What concerns me most is that this policy is being enforced by a major retailer like MediaMarkt, even for a relatively low-cost product, without considering customer protection or reasonable expectations.

I am now requesting a full refund without additional conditions, as the product was clearly delivered defective and the return was initiated immediately.
