Registry wedding dress

I’m getting married on Jan 2027 at Chelsea Old Town Hall and I fell in love with an A-line wedding gown! I was wondering if it’s appropriate or even practical to have a full wedding gown in January for a registry wedding? I was thinking if I get that gown, I will just shorten it to not have the full train to make it easier to move on the day. I haven’t seen a lot of posts about winter weddings, but what do you guys think?
