LinkedIn Tech Job Scammers are Something Else
So, LinkedIn emailed me with a job that was perfect: 100% alignment with my profile, past, and experience, remote, based out of Arizona but hiring in Kenya. I thought, "Perfect, where do I apply?"
I clicked the link, and the first thing I saw was mercor's logo. Then I check the link:
"?referralCode=e91c9585-63ad-45aa-9820-d63708190a83"
These affiliates are too much.
They are building company pages that look real enough on LinkedIn so they pass the initial sniff test. Then they post jobs that look very lucrative and make the link an affiliate link. So when you click and apply, they get a commission (Thinking about it some more, I think they are paid when someone is hired using their link but whatever.)
Keep an eye out for these scams (yes, I classify them as such), and stay vigilant, fellow job seekers.
