I wanted to share my interpretation on the true nature of Miquella's power, as I believe it to be the true visor into the character of Miquella. Specifically, his ability to place charms/enchantments on those he meets.

FROM THE HEART

*"Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men."*

It's this description from Sir Ansbach that, I believe, paints the clearest picture of the power that Miquella commands. I was curious, so I also found the Japanese text and created a literal translation:

*「純粋で、輝きに満ち、ただ愛によって人の心を漂白する」*

*"Pure, brimming with radiance, and bleaching the human heart through love alone."*

And I was relieved to find out that pretty much nothing was lost in the English localization. I would say that they both get across the same point. That point being the fact that the true power of Miquella's charm/enchantment is rooted in one thing and one thing alone: pure and absolute LOVE (愛).

MIQUELLA THE KIND

This isn't your classic garden variety type of love, like that which you give your family, spouse, close friends, or other people you hold dearly. No, the love that Miquella bestows upon others is more powerful than anything humanity has to offer.

Miquella's love is SO powerful that those who experience it become inwardly "bleached" (漂白する). They become stripped of things such as violence (Leda), conflict (Sir Ansbach), sadness (Sir Moore), vengeance (Hornsent), obsession (Thiollier), and other stains on the human heart.

OVERWHELMING BENEVOLENCE

Given the power at Miquella's command, some would say that he was nefarious, since at the end of the day, his power can undermine the wills of others. However, I think some fail to grasp the full picture.

It is BECAUSE his benevolence is so pure, innocent, and genuine that it is capable of performing these almost godlike feats. The reason why Miquella is so good at compelling the affection of others is because his feelings are MONUMENTALLY honest and sincere. Of course, this includes being enhanced through the power of his Great Rune.

MIQUELLA'S GREAT RUNE

To get a bit off topic, I am of the opinion that the Great Runes inherited by the demigods did not give them powers that are foreign to their recipients. Rather, I believe that they enhance their pre-existing qualities and strengths to almost GODLIKE proportions.

Like Godrick, a feeble demigod lacking in EVERYTHING, who became a jack-of-all-trades (and master of none) upon acquiring his Great Rune. Or Radahn, a warrior strong in both body AND mind, who became even greater in both size and strength, as well as heightened in his mastery of gravitational sorcery.

THE QUALITIES OF A CHILD

So what pre-existing power did Miquella possess? Well, as we know, Miquella was cursed with eternal childhood, unable to blossom into adulthood. This, of course, means that he would forever possess the qualities of a child. Not only physically but mentally. Qualities such as purity/untaintedness, innocence, curiosity, imagination, and above all INNATE MORALITY (as opposed to the perspective-taking, abstract morality of adults). Children have an evolutionary preference for fairness and generally favor behaviors that benefit others rather than harm them. And this kindness does not discriminate.

I believe it was these qualities that became incredibly enhanced when Miquella inherited his Great Rune. And so, the power that differentiated Miquella from his other demigod brethren is his overwhelming unconditional love and benevolence, which in turn made him unfathomably alluring to the hearts of humanity.

THE QUALITIES OF A GOD

Sir Ansbach finds Miquella's power to be utterly terrifying. He even goes as far as to call him a monster. Yes, in both English and Japanese.

*「・・・あの方は、化け物です」*

*"...That one is a monster."*

However, I do not think this is because Sir Ansbach believes Miquella to be ugly or malicious. Despite being opposed to Miquella and wishing to attone for failing his lord Mohg, he still holds both Miquella and his followers in high regard and treats them with respect and courtesy. And should you assist Leda in killing him, he laments at the fact that he failed both Mohg AND Miquella in the end:

*"I've utterly failed you both… Miquella the Kind, Lord Mohg…"*

Rather, it is because the power he commands stretches beyond that of humanity, to that of a god. And that is why he finds him so terrifying. This is something that even his sister, Malenia, was aware of:

*"My brother will keep his promise. He possesses the wisdom, the allure, of a god. He is the most fearsome Empyrean of all."*

THE POWER OF LOVE

In conclusion, Miquella wields love in its purest and most sincere form. A love stronger than any that has come before. And, for better or worse, such a thing is capable of conquering all.
