We turned all 16 FIFA World Cup 2026 host cities into real-world puzzle adventures
Hi everyone,
I've been building Destplore, a location-based adventure game where players explore real places, solve puzzles, complete challenges, and uncover stories connected to the places around them.
One of our biggest design experiments has been building themed content around real-world events instead of creating unrelated adventures.
For the FIFA World Cup 2026, we created adventures across all 16 host cities. The goal wasn't to recreate the matches, but to encourage players to explore each city through local landmarks, hidden details, puzzles, and stories.
A few examples from the collection:

⚽ Toronto 2026 Soccer City Hunt

The full collection covers all 16 World Cup host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
I'd love to hear from other indie developers.
Have you ever built game content around a real-world event or seasonal theme? Did it help with player engagement or discovery?
