I have kind of a weird question about budget range while shopping for my second guitar.

QUESTION

Specifically an electric guitar.

Basically I’ve always gone with idea when it comes to hobbies, I generally go for the cheapest option first, that way if I don’t end up liking it, I won’t have sank too much money into it, and my guitar isn’t an exception. It’s just a cheapo I got off Amazon, and had a tech set up for me.

I’ve been playing for about a year, and I’m looking at buying my next one.

I don’t want to just jump to one of the $1000 ones, but I would like to get one that’s better than the cheap one I have.

I’m thinking of keeping my budget around $200-300, but I’m not sure if a guitar selling at this price range would be a significant improvement, or would I be better off just saving and getting something closer to like $400-500 range?

I’m not super picky on make and model, I just play as a hobby, but I am having fun with it, and mostly play blues and rock, though I am starting to get into some metal shredding exercises.

I mostly just want to get one that’s better than what I have.
