Unsecured business loan, does this actually exist or is the personal guarantee basically the same thing?
Been looking into unsecured business loans for about two weeks. Every lender I talk to says it's unsecured, no collateral required. But then in the fine print there's always a personal guarantee clause, which means if the business can't pay, I'm personally on the hook that feels like the same thing as a secured loan just without a specific asset attached. I have an LLC specifically to separate my personal and business liability. A personal guarantee kind of defeats the whole point is there such a thing as a truly unsecured business loan where my personal assets aren't at risk? Or is the personal guarantee just standard for small business lending and I need to accept that until the business is big enough to stand on its own?
