Is there any actually decent BMW for 10-12k?

For the past two weeks I have been searching for a bmw for 10-12k, I have found some but those models are from the years when bmw were not making such good timing chains, so what would you guys recommend for the search? just buy one that looks decent and then change the timing chain or what is the best approach?
