Relieved to be one and done
Whoever needs to hear this: stay one and done!
A friend came over this morning with her three-year-old son and her baby. By the end, I was stressed out just from watching them.
The baby was completely overtired and just couldn't fall asleep. She wouldn't let her mom put her down for even a second. On top of that, the older child is very sensitive and didn't feel comfortable playing in the backyard with my daughter unless his mom came with him. He kept grabbing her hand and pulling her somewhere, or climbing all over her while she was trying to rock the baby in her arms.
I could picture myself in that exact situation, and I knew there is no way I'd be able to stay calm. By the end, I probably would've just ended up yelling at everyone.
For the first time, I know one thousand percent that having a second child wouldn't be doing anyone a favor. Not me, not my daughter, not anyone.
How did it end? The baby was desperately fighting sleep, forcing her eyes to stay open. The mom had to explain to her disappointed son that they had to leave early. In the end, she went home with two screaming children, while I peacefully put my daughter down for her nap.
Long story short: omg, no way that I will go for a second child.
Greetings from Germany, sweating in the heat but very happy to be one and done
