Is St.Pancras/Kings Cross area still sketchy and a bit unsafe or will it be fine late at night/past midnight? Which area's to avoid?

I heard the stories and about it's bad reputation but I also heard it's fine now except for a few areas. Now I booked a hotel in Swinton St. for my upcoming trip to London and Google says it's about an 8 minute walk from the station. Multiple walking routes, I think I will be fine but due mixed stories I still wonder if I'm close to an area to avoid? Not that I accidentally end up there in search for a supermarket or just for a walk before bed.
