Is it a good choice to work in Banks and make it into a career?

Hey everyone, I’m currently working as a Personal Banker at UOB, but my experience lately has been making me seriously question if this is the right long-term career path.

When I first started, I thought a career in banking would offer strong stability and a clear growth trajectory. However, the reality on the ground feels completely different. The job feels incredibly unstable because it’s so heavily driven by intense sales targets. Lately, I’ve been watching my peers leave one by one due to the constant pressure and burnout from pushing products like unit trusts and insurance.

I’m at a crossroads. I don't want to do transactional sales forever, and seeing everyone exit is making me anxious about staying. I've thought about trying to transfer internally to something like Workplace Banking or even pivoting out entirely, but I'm just not sure.

For those who have been in retail banking, is it worth sticking it out for the resume, or is it better to cut my losses and look for a different path early on? What do you guys think?
