Interview experience - S&C Global Network - AI - FS Insurance- Analyst

 | Rant / Vent

I came across a LinkedIn post, sent the person a DM, and within 15 days I got an interview call.

Round 0 (HR Screening):

The HR called to discuss my background and experience, but surprisingly, we spent more time talking about my college. We discussed JEE Advanced, my CRL rank, why I chose my department, and what IIT was like. She also asked about my salary expectations. I said 17 LPA, and they were okay with it. As a fresher, I honestly didn't expect them to agree that easily.

Round 1 (Technical):

The interviewer joined around 45 minutes late, but the interview itself went well.

We started by discussing my internship at IBM Research, where I worked as an AI Research Intern. I explained my project there, after which we took a deep dive into my GitHub and resume. Most of the discussion revolved around my projects, the technical decisions behind them, and the work I had done. Overall, it was a great conversation, and he seemed genuinely impressed.

Round 2 (Final Round):

About a week later, I was informed that I'd been shortlisted for the final round with a Senior Manager. Ironically, he was also around 30 to 45 minutes late.

We again discussed my internship projects before moving into a much more technical discussion around LLMs, AI agents, scaling challenges, and different frameworks. I was able to answer all of his questions, and he seemed quite impressed with my technical knowledge.

However, toward the end, he said something unexpected:

> "I'm confident about your technical skills, but I'm not fully confident about your communication skills. I'll have to check with your previous interviewer before making a decision."

That honestly caught me off guard because I've given several interviews before, and one piece of feedback I've consistently received has been that my communication is one of my strengths. So I still don't know what made him feel otherwise.

Verdict: Rejected Lol
