Which hairstyle should I go for? Perm vs highlights

I’ve always wanted a perm, a curly perm. When I was younger I had wavy hair but I’ve always kept my hair long and the weight pulled it to straight unless I don’t style. I’ve had blonde highlights before for years and spent the last almost 2 years letting my natural hair grow out. So half of my hair is not virgin, and half is bleached from previous style. Which should I go for? Ofc looking for less damage as much as possible, however I’m ready for a new look again. Based on anyone who has had either, please let me know your pros and cons for each and ultimately which is best for the long run 😭
