Rohloff crankset options
Hi everyone !
I am currently building a touring bicycle with a Rohloff hub. I am a little confused with cranksets as there are tons of choices.
Rohloff on their website recommends using a triple speed crankset and only use the outmost chainring, which should result in the 57mm chainline needed for the Rohloff build. But with more and more bicycles being singlespeed cranksets lately I am struggling to find the right triplespeed crankset. For instance, I can't really find the older Deore triple cranksets online (which are commonly recommended for touring Rohloff builds). And singlespeed cranksets seem to be a bit of a headache to propertly fit to the 57mm chainline requirement.
Since I will be travelling long distance, ans sometimes offroad, durability and stiffness are in mind.
I also want to be able to fit a smaller chainring on the final crankset build (32-38 teeth).
Do you guys have any references from Shimano (I can get free parts from them) or other brands ? Or any other advice on the topic ?
I am kind of lost in the ocean of possibilites and on how to get compatibility right with the Rohloff...
Thank you in advance fellow bicycle friends !
