Why do we have enterance examinations for Research institutes?

IAT

I mean there is no problem but listen to me. Not everyone is proficient in giving MCQ type question answers.

I mean we can conduct exams to select those who have actually studied in class 11th and 12th, right? Like in IAT, this cuoff can be around 110,115/240 marks.

Everyone who clears that exam, shoukd submit a portfolio just like that for US and UK universities.

Before you say anything, I would like to tell you that I have already done proper laboratory based research in Drug repurposing for MASLD, search uo its fullform, its the medical twrm for fatty liver, in India's one of the top govt pharmaceutical research institute.

Everyone should be able to present themselves one more time. Ofcourse one with higher score in the qualifying exam should be given priority. But people like me, who score mediocre in These exam, will have a way to present ourselves once again.

After this they can invite people for interviews and confirm their admission......

I know this is not feasibke for a population like that of India, byt around 10-15k will clear tge exam. 5-7k will submit their portfolio, becquse more or less only those many could realistically have had done something in that area.

Till the time its interview, only 3-4k people will be left. Will it not beneficial for everyone?

As far as reservation is concerned, ever OBC/ST/SC would receive relaxation in two places.

  1. qualifying the exam, if its 110/240 for general, it could be in 90-100, for OBC, 60-70 for st and sc.

  2. Seats have to be filled, so even if they do less task than general, they have their seats, which are to be filled only be membersnof that community. Its beneficial for then, more or less.
