Why I think the "krem/supergirl villian is underwhelming" is not a real issue or a fair critic

SpoilerDiscussion/Question

I watched supergirl's movie understanding it was about kara working through her grief, and I still think that's the main story. If it feels like a side quest it's because it kinda is! Krem is a villian in Ruthye's story of which kara ends up entangled in. Even though I absolutely loved that last battle as well as Kara killing krem in the end I would stay her biggest battle was internal. This is definitely a good first movie and introduction for supergirl in this universe and I can't wait to see more of her.

Other than that I think Krem was definitely despicable and I worry people are so used to (and expect) otherworldly and existential threats that they write off a trafficker / pedo is non threatening. Infact they could've have just made him a normal looking sleazy human and it would have sufficed for the story.
