Hey everyone,

I’m really excited to share a small but meaningful milestone: my game **SCP: Pale Weaver** finally reached **1,000 Steam wishlists**.

I released the Steam page on February 18, 2026, so it took about four months to get here.

Before Steam Next Fest, the game had gained a little over **540 wishlists**. During Next Fest, it gained another **381 wishlists**, and after the event it continued to grow slowly until it finally crossed 1,000.

I know 1,000 wishlists is not a huge number compared to many successful indie games, but for me it feels like a very important milestone.

This is a solo indie project that I have been developing for almost a year, mostly after work.

At the beginning, I was working at a large company with a pretty exhausting schedule, usually around 9 AM to 11 PM. Most days, by the time I got back to my apartment, I only had enough energy to scroll on my phone and sleep. I felt like my life had become extremely repetitive: wake up, go to work, come home exhausted, repeat.

After about a year of that, I changed jobs. I now work as a developer at a bank, and under normal circumstances I can leave work around 6 PM. That finally gave me a little bit of time and energy to do something I actually cared about.

So I started making this game.

I did not do much market research. I did not do a deep user analysis. I mostly wanted to make the kind of game I personally wanted to play.

The original idea was to combine several things I liked:

* the monster fantasy of **Carrion**
* the ragdoll body destruction feeling of old Flash games like **Plazma Burst**
* the grappling-hook chaos of **Just Cause**
* 2D pixel-style action
* an SCP-inspired containment breach setting

So the game became a 2D action game where you play as an escaped anomaly using tentacles, webs, physics-based movement, and brutal combat to break through a containment facility.

I also wrote a story for the game, but honestly, I think it became a bit too complicated. I used to think “saving the princess” stories were too simple, so I wanted to write something different. Then I actually tried putting a more complex story into a game and realized it is much harder than it looks.

Very much a “looks easy, fails immediately when you try it yourself” situation. :)

Still, I’m happy with the game. It is not perfect, but I feel like I have mostly built the game I originally imagined.

The demo is available now on Steam. If anyone tries it, I would really appreciate feedback. I will fix the bugs I can, although work has been getting busy again recently and I’m back to coming home around 10 PM most days.

Thanks to everyone who has played, wishlisted, or given feedback so far.

Wuhu!

My solo indie game reached 1,000 wishlists!!
