These darn squirrels

Hi all, happy strawberry full moon!

I was hoping to enjoy the berries I’ve been growing all spring in a strawberry salad tonight, but unfortunately the squirrels beat me to it. I thought I had bested them when I put organza bags over my berries, and seemingly for the last few weeks it worked.

Today I find all of the bags ripped off, all ripened berries gone or half eaten, and all unripe berries plucked from the plant. Sad day.

That said, does anyone have any other recs to keep squirrels away? I have deterrent plants nearby, I’ve used the baggies, I put chili oil on all the nuts and seeds I leave out, they really shouldn’t have any interest in my deck garden. I’d prefer not to exterminate them if possible, but please tell me if that’s likely the only solution.
